Annette Wagner – Acrylics, Sculpture, Bookbinding

Artist Statement

My art is a reflection of the conversation between my inner and outer self and the earth. I’m intrigued by inquiries asking me to shift my perspective of the world around me. The style I paint in is Contemporary Symbolism. Each of my creations begin with conscious intention, an inquiry to invite my muse in, and a grounding into connection with the earth. There is always an element of whimsy that emerges as if the universe can’t resist poking fun at itself, or perhaps me.

I work in acrylic, watercolor, small sculptures, and have recently returned to book binding. Bookbinding offers me a way to bring beauty to functional art. I use various techniques to create covers with jelly prints, momagami papers, collage and acrylic paint.

I studied acrylic painting with master painter Sue Hoya Sellars and Intentional Creativity® founder, Shiloh Sophia. I studied Asian watercolor and ink painting with renowned Asian watercolor painter, May Shei.

Feel the urge to nurture your own creativity? I teach Creativity classes where I mix up an inquiry with red thread, lots of paint, a sprinkle of glitter, and we get wildly creative.
