Annette Wagner – Acrylics & Sculpture

Artist Statement

My art is a reflection of the conversation between my inner and outer self and the earth. I’m intrigued by inquiries that ask me to shift my perspective of the world around me. The style I paint in is Contemporary Symbolism.

Each of my creations begin with conscious intention, an inquiry to invite my muse in, and a grounding into connection with the earth. There is always an element of whimsy that emerges as if the universe can’t resist poking fun at itself, or perhaps me.

I work in acrylic, paper clay, watercolor and ink. My cat sculptures are all about exploring the whimsical. My acrylic paintings are where I wander down a path with my muse to see what wants to come into form on my canvas. Watercolor and ink are what I create with when I’m out in nature.

I studied acrylic painting with master painter Sue Hoya Sellars and Intentional Creativity® founder, Shiloh Sophia. Broaden my understanding, I also studiend Asian watercolor and ink painting with renowned Asian watercolor painter, May Shei.

Feel the urge to nurture your own creativity? I teach Intentional Creativity classes where I mix up an inquiry with red thread, lots of paint, a sprinkle of glitter, and we get wildly creative.
