Michele Kapor Fine Arts

Artist Statement

Michele Kapor was born into a ranching family in Montana and can appreciate the closeness of a mountain, valley or the expanse of a desert sky. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University, she spent the next decade in the travel business. She is a world traveler and has spent many hours studying the various moods and lighting of landscapes all over the globe.

Her career has taken her from the Bay Area of California back to her roots in Montana in 1980, where she now resides and works from her home studio. Her next project is “Montana - High, Wide and Handsome”.

Michele Kapor is one of the premier landscape artists in the mountain west. Her work has been noted in national, private and local shows. Her commission work for "Site Specific" paintings are in great demand because she evokes the mood and sense of place the buyer feels for a favorite mountain, a long-forgotten stream, a friendly fishing hole or the wonderful freshness of a vacation spot.

Michele’s palette-knife plein air paintings are fresh and full of light and color. Michele’s latest plein air paint out was the 2021 National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society (NOAPS), where she was awarded 2nd Place Best of Show. Michele is a founding member and Vice President of the Montana Professional Artists Association, and has organized several paint outs in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana.
