Robert Simmons – Oil with Cold Wax and Acrylic
Artist Statement
My traveling experiences allow me to see vast amounts of the USA and Japan, enjoying their sights and sounds. As I traveled, I looked at beautiful art and weird abstractions and developed a desire to create my own beautiful works of art to reflect my experiences and the things I love.
To learn how, went to college later in life taking art classes in oils, watercolor, pencil, charcoal, and acrylics, but lacked time and a studio to further my creations. Retirement and a studio gave me the time and freedom to pursue my art. I continue the learning process taking a in depth online art course.
In the past few years, my works are non-objective abstraction. I enjoy the motion and flow of shapes and colors looking for joy and happiness, incorporating geometric and free form shapes, various lines, variety of angles, curves, and circles with repeating patterns. Currently, I paint with Acrylics or Oil with Cold Wax and occasionally mixed media. I love the ability to create hues from a single color plus black and white.
